3 Peaks Team

(Biogs written at the start of 3PCC training)

Tim Bradley

Tim is 40 and has been happily married for 13 years. He and Joanne have two young daughters and live near Manchester. He showed early promise as a schoolboy XC runner, through his teens competed for Radcliffe AC on the road, XC and fells. He has always also been a keen cyclist, with a preference for long distance. His proudest running Pbs include 33:05 10K, 1:16:42 Half Marathon and 2hrs for 20 miles. May ’92 saw him walk the whole 275 mile Pennine Way in 9 days, in aid of Bury General Hospital’s Chest Unit, following the death of his wife’s Grandfather. Tim says he is looking forward to potentially becoming one of only a select few that will be able to boast completing the full 3 Peaks distance on foot and by bike, in such a short time. “I do thrive on pushing the boundaries and stretching my physical limits...but there is still a heavy training load and a very very long way to go before finishing off Snowdon...”

Peter Banks

Peter is 45, happily married to Lesley and has three daughters. They live in the Lake District, where Peter is a Director of their 3rd generation family business, George Banks Jewellers. Their shops are based in Preston and Bowness-on-Windermere. Peter’s athletic CV is more than impressive - as a youngster he excelled at County standard as a 3,000metre steeplechaser. As a lifetime member of Blackburn Harriers, he also competed for Lancashire and the Northern Counties running XC and road races. Some of his previously set fell-race records still stand, and he is a former winner of the “Tour of Tameside”, the famed 6 day multi-stage race. His success is too much to list, but here are just a few of his personal best times:- 29:50 10K, 48:36 10miles, 1:05:30 Half Marathon, 2:23:50 Marathon (6th in Dublin). Peter’s best London time was 2:26:50, and in 2005, aged 44, he still managed 2hrs 41mins. Peter volunteered to support Tim on this venture and is more than confident of their success. He assures that will come from a solid training base and mental toughness.
